BATHERS WAY PAVILLIONS
Unbuilt, Public Space Shade Structures Concept
2013

These set of pavilions were designed in response to our knowledge that Newcastle City Council were looking to rework and improve the Bathers Way walk and provide a set of public structures associated with it. A little tired of the pervasive concept that to respond the Newcastle the ‘steel city’ that weathering steel is somehow a response to place and unimpressed generic shelters that occupy many of our local parks we proposed a set of pavilions that were developed in response to the existing conditions and materiality found along this favoured coastal walk.
